Introduction
I felt a sharp pain. My water broke. I was going into labor.
"Go get Matthew! Hurry! She's can't move!"
"What's going on?"
"Matthew, hurry!"
It was a blur of voices. I only recognized one.
"Allysa, it's alright. I've got you now." Matthew whispered in my ear. I knew it would be.
We made it. The doctor came in often, checking on my condition. Matthew held my hand, kept me company, comforted me whenever I needed it. He was wonderful. When we tried delivering the baby, we made no progress. The doctor left for a few moments, and I wasn't about to give up. Matthew took over and we ened up delivering our new born daughter on our own. She was beautiful. Her eyes opened slightly, showing that she shared the same green eyes as her father. Her hair was slightly darker than mine and messy. Her hands wrapped around my fingers tightly as she let out a small cry that sounded like the angel choir singing on Christmas morn. Tears came from both mine and Matthew's soar eyes. My eyes closed in rest. I could finally rest. My child was safely delievered.
"Daddy?" a small boy's voice whispered.
"Caleb, what are you doing here?" Matthew said in shock.
"I wanted to see you. I was told you were at the hospital. I thought you were hurt." Caleb explained.
"No, I'm here because you have a little sister."
"I have a baby sister now?"
"Yes, come see her."
It was his son. My stepson. No, he's not my stepson. He's MY son. He's my son, and she's my daughter. This is my family. This is my family.
We named her Caroline. All three of us.
"Mom! Mom! Don't let go!"
The winds blew too hard.
"Mom!"
"Allysa, hold on! Stay close to the kids!"
Matthew was blown away first. I tried reaching for him, but I had to protect my children. I held on long enough.
The wind changed directions. I was blown away from my kids.
I couldn't find them.
